Compressed Air Leak Monitoring

Detecting and tracking leaks in compressed air systems, helping plants cut the electricity wasted by air compressors.

Air compressors and compressed air receivers in a plant

Service Details

Compressed air is an expensive form of energy because air compressors use a lot of electricity. Leaks at pipes, fittings and valves are often hard to notice, yet they make compressors run more than necessary.

The monitoring solution detects leak points and tracks the condition of the compressed air system, so the plant can repair leaks promptly and plan maintenance.

Ha Thanh supplies the solution from ASCO, part of Emerson, using Emerson's AVENTICS AF2 flow sensors. The sensors are installed on compressed air lines, continuously measure flow, pressure and temperature, and send the data to monitoring software over Ethernet or IO-Link. This lets the plant spot abnormal air consumption, such as air still being used while the line is stopped, so leaks can be located and fixed.

Benefits

  • Less electricity wasted on air compressors.
  • Early detection of leaks for prompt repair.
  • Monitoring data for planning compressed air system maintenance.

Who It's For

  • Plants that use a lot of compressed air for equipment and production lines.
  • Energy and maintenance teams looking to cut electricity costs.
